My attention was directed to a paragraph in the local papers of the appointment, by the Secretary of State for the Colonies, of a Royal Commission, to collect evidence of the causation of fevers. The paragraph mentions that its work is to study the nature and relative frequency of the fevera pccurring among the Europeana, natives, and others in West Africa, especially with regard to Yellow fever and its minor manifestations. am informed, on enquiry, by the Secretary of State, that the Commission will collect evidence as to the causation of fevera in such places as the Straits Settlements &o.
